I went to a local plex and saw the latest Harry Potter chapter. My wife and I enjoyed it but I didn't think it was as good as the previous four. I haven't read the books as I'm not into magic and fantasy unless it's more along the lines of Sword & Sorcery. To illustrate, it took me forever to read The Hobbit and I could never get into the Lord of the Rings trilogy which I bagged very early during Book 1. Back to the Order of the Phoenix... I felt this one was talky with not much action until the end. It was kind of a 'breather' chapter. I do look forward to the final two installments.
On the other hand, my son and I watched Pan's Labyrinth. What a movie! It was a little different than what I expected. Kind of a 'fairy tale within a fairy tale'. Great story, directing & acting. Not for young children. Some shockingly violent scenes and the entire movie is spoken in Spanish with English sub-titles. It took five minutes to get into the flow of reading the dialogue but it didn't take away from the story at all. Strongly recommended.
If you rent a decent amount of movies, take a look at Blockbuster Online versus Netflix. I'm a subscriber to the $9.95/month plan and have been quite pleased. Blockbuster has an endless selection (as does Netflix) plus the advantage of their brick & mortar stores. Watch the movie you received in the mail, take it to your Blockbuster store and exchange it for an in-store DVD. Blockbuster mails your returned flick and you'll also receive the next DVD from your Blockbuster Online queue. On top of that, you receive a monthly coupon via e-mail (print it off) good for another movie from your local BB store. No monthly limits! I recently read that Blockbuster is cutting into Netflix business. Netflix has lowered it's prices a bit to battle back but without physical stores, Blockbuster will continue to have the upper hand.
